CHIN CONTOURING
Refine the chin and jawline for a softer, more balanced facial profile.
Chin surgery, or mentoplasty, can be used to either reduce or enhance the chin—depending on your facial goals. For facial feminization, the procedure most often involves reducing projection or contouring the jawline to create a more delicate appearance.
What to expect:
-
The ideal chin projects just beneath the lower lip for balanced proportion
-
Often paired with rhinoplasty to harmonize facial features
-
Contouring may include reducing the chin’s height, width, or prominence
If a chin implant is needed to further shape or support the structure, it’s placed through a small incision beneath the chin using silastic, a biocompatible material also used in joint replacements. Most patients wear a chin dressing for 4–5 days, and stitches are removed after 6 days.
Risks are minimal, and Dr. Toby G. Mayer, M.D., F.A.C.S., brings decades of precision and aesthetic balance to every procedure.
